Position Summary: Maintains, tests and troubleshoots plumbing systems. Performs master journey-level work in the installation, maintenance, inspections, modification, remodel and repair of mechanical plumbing equipment, hydraulic systems, and fixtures of water, gas, oil, steam, sewage, fire sprinkler/prevention, and refrigeration-related plumbing systems.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains, repairs and installs plumbing and related fixtures and components
- Cut, thread and weld pipes as necessary
- Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings and pipes
- Use of plumber’s tools such as snakes, wrenches, plungers, pipe threaders, as well as a variety hand and power tools.
- Inspect work for compliance with building and safety codes and regulations
- Respond to routine and urgent calls for repairs and service
- Maintain good housekeeping of shop and tools
- Maintain appropriate service and repair log
- Assist and serve as back-up to other Facilities employees
Education and Experience: Trade School or formal apprenticeship program. 5 years+ related experience. Hydraulic systems troubleshooting skills preferred. Knowledge of sanitary codes.
Physical Demands: Some heavy lifting and considerable moving of equipment required. Will be required to climb ladders, work on roofs and small areas.
Environment: Manufacturing environment. High dust, odors, oil, fumes, dirt, grease and noise. Exposure to temperatures above 90 degrees 20% of the time.
