Position Summary:  

Responsibilities: Provide electrical control systems engineering support in a heavy manufacturing and equipment environment. The assignment includes writing equipment specifications for new equipment purchases, equipment installation, start up and training. Daily duties include troubleshooting, performing control system performance analysis and the implementation of control modifications in support of existing manufacturing equipment and processes.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Provide electrical process controls engineering and data integration services including developing project scope, planning, procuring, and the managing of engineering projects.
  2. Work with all levels of Plant personnel to identify and assess equipment and process problems and define requirements to help address engineering problems and needs.
  3. Manage engineering projects from conception to completion.
  4. Provide a wide variety of engineering and data integration services from project specification through design, implementation, training and support.

Job Requirements

  1. A demonstrated track record of success in the development and implementation of machine and process control schemes
  2. Strong interpersonal skills including leadership, teaming, and conflict resolution
  3. Experience in building a new system from scratch is highly desirable
  4. Vision system knowledge and programming experience is a plus
  5. Programming hands-on experience with a range of control systems (PLC and AC/DC Drives)
  6. Must possess knowledge of current controls practices, procedures standards, and equipment
  7. Must be familiar with a variety of process control concepts
  8. Ability to provide quick and innovative solutions to process and machine controls problems
  9. Knowledge of software diagnostic tools and their use
  10. Ability to use a programming device (laptop) to troubleshoot, make program changes, backup and monitor PLC performance
  11. Ability to establish and maintain helpful and friendly atmosphere with suppliers and peers
  12. Posses employee training skills
  13. Good organization and time-management skills
  14. Good communication, technical writing, team work and leadership skills
  15. Ability to work with frequent interruptions
  16. Must be able to work some evenings and weekends and to be available on short notice to resolve problems

Education and Experience:

  1. BSEE with prior work experience in electronics and/or electrical engineering in machinery controls engineering and design, PLC programming.
  2. Minimum of 5 years experience in the application and programming of PLC based rotating machinery control systems specializing in Allen-Bradley (MicroLogix, SLC500, CompactLogix, ControlLogix PLC Families), Reliance Electric (AutoMax), Siemens, GE Fanuc Systems.
  3. Minimum of 5 years experience in the application and programming of AC/DC Drives, specializing in Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 750/755 AC, PowerFlex DC. Schneider Electric ATV61, ATV71, ATV930 AC. Siemens DC.
  4. Knowledge and application of Sensors to include, Photoelectric, Ultrasonic, Stain Gages, Laser Types.
  5. Knowledge and application of Temperature Controllers to include, Yokogawa, Schneider Electric, Omron.

 

Qualifications Candidate must be proficient with human machine interfaces (HMI) and operator interface development, AutoCAD and the generation of electrical and control panel drawings. Must have excellent troubleshooting skills. Heavy manufacturing and machine control environments preferred. Must have strong independent decision making capabilities along with mathematical and technical writing skills. Microsoft office and computer experience required.

Environment:  Office Environment 60% of the time and manufacturing environment 40% of the time.
